Chiropractic is the practice of working with the joints of the body to restore them to their proper alignment within the musculoskeletal system. When a vertebra is out of alignment with its surrounding joints, it is called a subluxation. Subluxations are treated by way of an adjustment. Adjusting a subluxated joint restores the proper function of a joint and produces increased flexibility and ease of motion for the body as a whole as well as having positive neurological effects.

By working specifically with the spine, there is the added benefit of having an impact on the functioning of the nervous system of the body. The spinal column consists of 24 vertebra plus the bones of the pelvis, and this column contains the spinal cord which innervates the rest of the body. We can see beneficial effects to the nervous system of the body by adjustments to the vertebral joints. This can range from the reduction of pain, alleviation of headaches and other amazing changes to improve the quality of your life.

Whether this is your first experience with chiropractic, or you are a returning patient, we want to work with you to fine-tune your body so that it works to its fullest potential and leaves you feeling full of energy and pain-free.

Dr Johnnie Walker has been in private practice for 9+ years at East York Chiropractic Clinic.  He believes in the body’s innate ability to heal and regulate itself and that chiropractic can help the body work without interference. He studied chiropractic at Parker College of Chiropractic where he was trained in various techniques  that he uses according to a patient’s specific needs. He works in a style that combines working the soft tissue of the body that surrounds the joints, and then delivering the adjustment. He tries to educate his patients so that they feel involved in the healing process and they can better understand what the treatment is doing for them.
